^ Bill IS School, which hitherto has enjoyed a high
«- tlegree of prosperit; under the conduct of J. H.
Horner, ,M., by whom it was originally established,
will be re-opeiied on the 15th of July, and arranged to
prepare boys for advanced classes in the University.
For this purpose. Prof. A. (j. Brown, whose reputa
tion is well kno vn as a Teariier of the Ancient Classics
during the last thirteen years at (.'hapel Hill, will be
associated with the present Principal, and Rev. T. J.
Horner will continue to be an assistant Instructor.
The School, as thus organized, is designed to be
permanent and of the highest grade. ,\s it is divided
into a few classes pursuing a regular course of studies,
cousiderable time will be devoted to examination and
lecture upon the subject of every lesson by each in
structor in his own department.
Important advanta^res have been secured by the es
tablishment of a Literary Society, with its library, ami
an ufficient system of discipline, in which especial at
tention is given to the habits ancl deportment of the
young men, when nt engaged in the imn ediate duties
of the School.
Its location is very eligible; the clitnate of Oxford is
excellent, and the commodious building lately erected,
stands on .an pn)incnce in a beautiful grove, beyond the
corporate limits of the town and near the residence of
the Principal and other ))rivate families, who will ac
commodate the StHlents with board.
Two terms of twenty weeks each, coinciding with
those of the University, compose the scholastic year,
and the price of board and tuition is ninety dollars a
term.
Applic.'itions should be made as earlj’ as practicable,
accompanied in every instance with a statement of the
ilge and proficieucy of the applicant.
