^rilE Board of Valuation for the Fayetteville and Cross
1 Creek Districts have decided, that they will be able
to make a valuation of the Real Estate more satisfacto
rily if they sit together.
Therefore Resolved, That in the valuation of real
estate they will act as one Board.
The following extracts from -‘An Act entitled Reve
nue'’ are published for general information:
Skc. 4. “The owner of the laud, or ( if he be a non
resident) his agent shall furnish the district board with
a list, including land entries, setting forth tlie separate
tracts, and also the several conliguous bodies or tracts
of land owned >iy him in the district, together with
the names of the water courses, or other noted placets
on. or nearest to which tiiey may be situated, and the
number of acres in each sepa’-r.te tract or contiguous
body of land.”
Sec. 5. “Town lots shall b«- listed separately, and
each lot be numbered according to the plot of the town.
I’Mch separate body or tract of land, and each town lok
shall be separately and distinctly valued and returned.”
Shc. 7. “If any person shall refuse tofurnih thelist
ro juircd above, or to take the oath prescribed in the
preceding section, he shall be declin'd guilty o1 a mis
demeanor, and the justices of the peace of said board
siiaU bind him over to appear at tiie next term ot the
Superior Court of the county to answer the charge; and,
on conviction or submission, he shall be fined at the
discretion of the court.
Sec. 8. “When the owner of the lanu, or (if he be a
non-resident of the State) his agent, be not a resident
of the district where the land is situated, the required
list, with affidavits of the same import as the above re
quired oath, subscribed and sworn to before and certifi
ed by a justice of the peace, may be transmitted to the
district board of valuation, an(l if received before the
board s.iall be ready to value the land contained in the
list. Mich list shall be received as though tendered and
j sworn to liy the owner or agent in person.”
Sec. 'j. “When the board of valuation are not fur- .
! nished with a list sworn to as above required, or the
owner or agent refuses to answer to the correctness of
the statement as to the number of acres contained in
any tract of land, they may procured county or other
surveyor, and have the same surveyed. And the sur
veyor may recover the amount of his fees and all ex
penses out of tho owner of the land, before a justice ot
the peace, by warrant or attachment. ’
Resolved, That all persons, owners, guardians, at
torneys, agentsand trustees, are hereby notified that cor
rect lists of real estate, specifying the District in which
tho land is, must bo handed in to the Boards on or before
the 25th day of October 1850.
Resolved, That the Lists be liamlod to Joseph .\rey,
Es|., who may be found at the Town Hall, from the 5th
to the 2oth day of October 1859. each day', (Sundays
