C., March 6, 1859. 95-1 yrpd The undersigned will commence, on or about the DJth daj’ of January next, the publication of A Daily and Weekly Paper Bearing the above title in the Town of Fayetteville, N. t . The COURIER will be Democratic in tone and senit- ment, and will seek at all times and upon all occasions to guard vigilantly the interests of the Soufh. It is a difficult task at any time to understan.I clearly the drift of events, especially when a great crisis is ap proaching. For some time past we have been fami liarizing ourselves with the idea that at a day not wr distant we shall have to battle for our interests. Re cent events have shown that our opinions were correct, and that we were compelled to defend ourselves frfliu the invader. It can not be denied, although it is re lished by no one in this section, that the breach between the North and the South is daily becoming wider. Our duty, then as men, true to our interests, is to girU up ourselves for the contest and be prepared for all even tualities. That it is the duty of every one to do what ever lies in his power to avert this awful disaster, is cheerfully recognized by all classes. In conducting the COURIER, whatever energy or alent I m ay possess will be directed towards the per petuity of the Union and equality of the States, and in maintaining those political principles which have been tested and proven to be the only mode by which the affairs of our country can be properly managed. Although the particular tenets of the Democratic party will be argued, 1 will concele to political 0PP_J' nentsthe prerogative which 1 claim for myself, and will endeavor to do my duty without giving oftence to any one. The COURIER although a political paper will not be so far misled by politics as to neglect those things which should claim the attention of a public journab 1 will endeavor to give the latest Telegraphic and olher news, market reports &c., and to keep my readers advised of everything of interest, which transpires from time to time. . The Daily paper will be printed every morning, (Sun days excepted) on new and handsome type, and will contain twenty-four Columns of reading matter. Price per annum $6.00 in advance.
