repeatedly, that we charge for obituary notices of un
reasonable length, and for resolutions of respect; be
cause that kind of reading, wo have much occasion to
know, is not often more agreeable to readers than to
editors of papers. A? it generally happens, however,
that after charging and paying postage on the account for
warded, we never get paid, we now give notice that we
will insert nothing of the sort hereafter unless accom
panied by the cash. (Always excepting in the case of
deceased volunteers, when we require no pay.) Bear
iu miud, therefore, that we will insert obituary notices
and resoluti'ons, not exceeding 70 words, gratis For all
over 70 words, one cent a word, which must be paid be
fore the notice will be put in type.

have been entered into witli the LorUs of the Ad
miralty and the Commaiider-in-Lhiet, in order to
the adoption of means for supplying this deficien
cy, should it unfortuately occur. W ithout enter
ing itito details (as tlie whole arrangement may
be rendered unnecessary by the arrival of Messrs
AJusou and iSiidetl about tlie 28tli December^ Mr.
Fuach begs to say that, in the event of the i'ede-
rals declining to send contributions to the exhi
bition, the space now appropriated to such arti
cles will be supplied through the exertions of
gentlemen connected with our military and naval
service, and that among the involuntary contri
butions from the North will be the tollowing ar
ticles:
1. The Siuyara Fwls (American portion,) by
the kind permission of the ('anadian authontieSj|
and to be returned when done with.
2. The American Eayle.—The interesting ani
mal will be provided with a large supply of its
natural food, namely, Bunkum, to be obtained
from the offices of the New York newspapers.
