Tne annual interest of the public debt was at the
end cf last month, t'.l,7T8,G43. This sum already
exceeds the total revenue of me United States as it
existed prior to the secession ot the Southern States.
Tbat revenue, as derived from all sources aud from
ail ihe States thus united, amounted, for the year
ending the HOth June, i860, to $76.7.^2,033. But
the amount of this de t, brgo as it is, increabes witn
frightful rapidity. The rate of increa«e of the dent
