Mills..- The snm of $2,000 was : donated to these institutions for the ensuing year, and a pi adopted to secure a permanent fund for endowment The superintendent elect was authorised to make the necessary arrangements to send to school four or phans each year, several schools of the state having offered to educate them free of charge, the asylum to furnish clothes and books. A number of orphans are now being educated in this manner. So long and interesting did the dismission on .the asylums prove that the installation of grand officers did not eommence , un til nearly 12 o'clock, after which cere mony the grand lodge adjourned, having postponed the dedication of the new room of Wru. O. Hill lodge nntil this evening. Pursuant to last evening's adjourn ment, the grand lodge convened again this morning at 10 o'clock. Boports from various committees were read. The report of the committee on orphan asylums was perfected and adop ted. J. H. Mills aigniiied hia conaent to accept the re-election to the anperinten- deney of the orphan any lams. Resolutions of tiuuiks to the railroads, steamboats and the Raleigh hotels, for i courtesies extended to the members of the grand lodge, were adopted. The committee on accounts and olaima made their report, which was adopted. An invitation from Prof. F. P. Hob- good to viait Raloigh Female Seminary, to-day at 4 o clock, waa acoepted. The report of this gentleman, submitted last evening to the maaonio grand lodge, in regard to the present status of the orplian asylums at Oxford and Mars II 31, is very interesting, and reflects credit upon the seal and energy displayed by that gen tleman in his labors in so good a cause. Regret is felt in not being able to give the report in full Contributions to the Oxford asylum from Deo, 1, 1874, to Nov. 30, 1875, amounted to $13,095.98. Disbursements for same period, $12, 640.37, leaving on hand a balance of $551.61. These figures include the re ceipts and disbusements for Mars Hill until Sept, 1, when the books of that in. BUtunon were opened. The number of orphans reported as present at Oxford last year was 132 ; admitted since that report KT,"tiutking 182rdiobjttT ST; died 2, ranaway 3, expelled 2, leaving 105 inmates at present The totiti contributions in sash from September 1 to .November 30, for Mara Hill asylum were $353,-21. The disburse ments during this time amount to $548.20, leaving on hand $i-ll- The contribu tions in kind have not been so liberal as might have been expected in aceantry blessed wfth abundant crops, but some few individuals have made frequent and liberal donations. Repairs on the main building and the erection of other build ings, the purchase of furniture, ic, have caused the expenses to be rather heavy, but these improvements are of a perms. nent character. The number of orphans admitted to this asylum has been 33, ex pel led 1, ranaway 2, discharged 8, leav ing now present 29 of them. 10 were transferred from Oxford, some to assist ia entertainments and others for their health.
