' The eonrse of instruction for gentlemen imended for the Bar embraces the various branch s of Public and Con atituttonal Law, Admiralty, Maritime. Equity, aud Otimmon Law, wntcn. are common to all ihe United States, with occa4onal illustrations of Foreign Juris prudence. The course of tn&tructibn for gentlemen intended for the mercantile profession is more limited, and embrace the principal branches only of Commer cial Jurisprudence, to wit; the Law of Agency, pf Partnership, of BailmeoU, of Bills of Excbanse and Promissory Notes, of insurance, of Shipping, Navi gation, and other. Maritime concerns, and of ales. and, if H student desire it, also of Constitutional Law. No public instruction is given in the local or peculiar municipal jurisprudence of jny particular State but the studenu are aasiated by ah Pr0fessorsf as occa sion may require, in tkfir'privaie study of the Uw and practice peculiar to their own States. The active labors of instruction are shared equally by Mr. Julice Stou,t, who is Dane Professor of Law in the Uuiver sity, and byMr.GaKSHtair.. He also gtves a lond in tblrsom of $-200 to the Stewsrd, with a surety resident in Mas acbusctb, lor the payment of College dues ; or de pot t tea, at his election, $ 1 50 with the Steward, at the commencement of each term. Students may enter the school in any stage of their professional studies or mercantile pursuits. But they are advised to enter at the beginning of those studies, rsther than at later period, as .the most useful to themselves. They may also elect what particular studies they will pursue. The fees are at the rates of $50 a term, and $25 for half or any lesser fraction of a term ; for which aom, without any additional charge, students have the use of the lecture room, the Law Library, con tainutg upwards of $7,500 volumes, the College Li brary, and the text-books: and they are admitted tree to all the public b-clurea in the Univerilv. " They may also study sny foreign language taught in the University for 10 per annum. The price of board varies from $3 S3 to $3 50 per week, and of room rent from 75 cents to $1 25 per week. The Academical year, which commences on the Friday after the fourth Wednesday in August, di vided into two term of twenty weeks earn, with a vacation of six weeks at the end of each term.
