THE Summer Term of this 8cbool will com
mence on the 4th day of June, and continue till
the 10th of November. The Winter Term will im
mediately follow, and continue from November 11th,
till April 15th, 1817, thus making a Session of ten
months.
The principal building of this Institution is of
brick, 90 by 60 feet, and three stories high. The
wings are of granite, 57 by 34, and two stories high.
These buildings are in the centre of an oak grove of
25 acres, and afford ample accommodations for all
purposes of a domestic, literary, or religious character
connected with the School. The course of mstruc
tion in every department is thorough, and ia adminis
tered by Tour gentlemen and seven ladies.
It ia the intention of the Rector in all his arrange
ments, to sustain, and as far as possible, increase the
claims of the School to the very liberal ahare it has
hitherto enjoyed of the public tavor and support.

N. B. The clothing of pupils must be marked with
the owner's name in full. To prevent rivalry and
extravagance in dress, a simple uniform is prescribed
for Sundays and special occasions.- This consists, in
Summer, of a straw bonnet with light blue ribbon,
and a plain white dress. Their ordinary apparel may
be of any material suitable for School girls. Jewels
and Lace are prohibited. The Religious services
of the School being held in its Chapel, by the
Rector, pupils have rarely occasion to visit the City.
From their friends or relatives in the City, they are
allowed to accept invitations, for the Jay only, once
a month, and never for the evening.
They are not allowed to have accounts at Stores
except at the request of their Parents or Guardians,
nor are they allowed to visit the Stores, without the

THE Subscribers, living at Chapel Hill, North
Carolina, have lately purchased of CnaRtas 8. '
Gatiord, the right of his Patent Straw, Oat, Shuck '
and Corn Stock Cutter, in the following State,
Virginia, Tennessee, North and 8oulh Carolina,'
Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, and Arkansas.1 To
r mem, mere are l wo Macbines attached one
called a Sliding 4Jutier ; the blade cut eight inches
on a side, and pierces the volume of 8traw in the '
centre ; is used and worked by hand, and fed at the '
same timej will cut one bushel of Oat straw to the,
minute the other, is called the Wheel ( Machine ;
it has a cast-iron wheel that weighs eighty pounds,
and worka with more ease than any Machine ever in
vented It is worked and fed by the same j person.,
with ease, and will cut through a volume of Straw:
five and half inches each way, and cuts with speed. ;
Both Machines are of simple construction ; the first,
will cost from ten to twelve dollars j the other, about
Twenty dollar. We would eay to all person, who'
wish to speculate in County or State Rights, or those
wishing a Machine, that thev had httar .v. . it.
