Tenn., in regard to burning the We$Ieyau Female College "l was gleepibg in the third story of a building locked in and no other person .was known to be in the building, and certainly no one else was! in my room, tvhen sound asleep and not d learning, about 2 o'clock Sunday morning, a loud and distinct voice was heard close to my head, exclaim iug, ; Wesleyan Female College Runted !' 'I related the cecuheuce at the breakfast ta ble that morning, to fifteen " or twenty boarders, and stated that the voice was so peculiar and different from anything that had occurred to me, that I expected really to hear in a few days that the College was burned. 'We msy go further aud fare worse.'; . ! . Hertford county is the mother of,two as accomplished, intelligent, and naturally gifted ladies as I ever saw. I refer; to the wife of Dr. Howard, formerly of barren ton, now' of IVutimore, a-ad to the wife of Maj.- John W. -Moore. . Hertford county can well take pride in claiming their ma ternity. . The Enquirer, a very readable paper, is published weekly by Mr Ward, a rising young lawyer, and receives a merited share of patronage. 1 was very much entertain ed by , reading some county historical sketches, written by Major J. W. Moore, and published in the Enquirer, "They ex hibit much care, labor and reserch. Major Moore writes with case, fluency and facili ty. His capability and general informa tion eminently benefit him to illustrate with accuracy these historical incidents. The Pio nig at Worrell's - Store A General Good Time According to an nouncement, the pic nic came off on Thurs day last at C. y. WrorrellTs store, and was an affair' enjoyed .by all present. The place is a beautiful cool shady one, and is calculated to invite attendance.
