The steamer Lota was put on our line laxt week by the Albemarle -Steam Navigation Co., and was unable to bring the freights at its schedule trips, and had to make an extra trip on Saturday last. The damage of the recent storm wan considerable. In Bertie, much damage was done, several mill d-nns were ! swept away arit the streams were filled to ! overflowing. In Northampton the damage was not so great. In Hertford it was con siderable. Besides the general destruction to crops &e.,' the nii'.l oams of Jackson i 1 1 are and of Liverman fe Brown were washed away, with considerable damage done to others. Iu Gates, Chowan, Tyr i-ell, Perquimans and Washington counties, the storm was terrible, and it is said that almost ivery bridge, mill dam and embank meat were almost entirely washed away.
