Even your neighbor's dog becomes in noxious! and cle band organ loses its Fting. The kissi phone is another new aud won derful invention and( fairly gets away with them all. A man in New York can kiss his wife in California, and can realize all the delicious sweetness of the original ruby lips of his heart' ideal. Calvert, Secretary. lIMFERfOR COURT. The Suk-eejoixdek c y B. B. Wiboene to H. G Siiakpe. Jr. Editor: When an underminin g slanderer is forced to confess publicly and openly the slanders that germinate ia and gnsh out of bis polluted imagination, and with which he would corrupt the pure breeze of heaven, he writes his ownihistory. Such is thp case of H. C Sbarpe. He Las been made to disgorge and fathei that, which would have better suited bis low purpose, if be could have kept hidden be hind the curtain of bis infamies. After noticing briefly a few of the false statements of If. C Sbarpe in connection with the court, I will then explain tbe rea son of Silas' assaults on ll. O. Sbarpe, and I will also reply seriatim to his slanderous charges ag.uiist me. 1. II. C. Sbarpe says in his 2nd reFly that he admitted in lm reply of the 4th of Aril, that the saving of the Court was $G0. This I pronounce untrue, and refer to his 'article in the Enquibkk of the 4th of April. j 2. H. C. Sharpe speaks of an item of $50.45 costs paid by County in four i cases vl larceny &c. Here 's t- second recoruea raise statement. lnere were -niy three case iu whih the county was 'responsible for costs "as tke records wib v no- as to whether this is a true item "f expense of the Court, I will ask ' ' cessitated by the organization of tbe Court, or would it not have bcea agaiust the County without the Court? 3, As to Sliaroe's enipVv assertion that 1 1 T f . s . f t A. 1 ie iiueuor cost 3 per aay more man xue Superior Court, wus unnoticed in my for- j mer arucie, oecause n was ior inucu - line ; the author too contemptible. I included the iees of the presiding officers in my ac i count. 4i IL C: Sharpe says,-"llos who read Silas 1st ana Jiid articles unaersioua mm to maintain that the fines, forfeitures &c, went to defray the expenses ot the Court &c." And here I call attention to recorded false statement No. 3, and rcjfer to my foi mer articl . I maintained in my former articles and I still maintain that the fines and forfeitures were "a saving to the coun ty. The fines and forfeitures go to the free school fuud a certain amount of school money must come out of tbe pock ets 6f the tax-payers. And when the gene ral school tax is insufficient, as it is in the county, to execute the law, then a. "special :ax'f must he levied so that the law must i be executed. And if these fines and for feitures go to diminish this, deficiency in the general tax, tbeu the tax payers are jre I eased pro tanto. If a man has ten Goi lats iu each of two pockets aud I propose to bun to take out live from one pocket and but ten fn the other; now, would it be. material ta the man from wbu3h pocket I took the five dollars? So, is it mateiial with the tax payers from which pocket of j the County Treasury you take money to defray the expenses of the Court, if the (Court deposits more in -the other pocket than it took out? So I siy that the fines &c.j altogether they go to the Free School Fund, do indirectly go towards defraying the expenses of the Court notwithstand ing C. Shrpe.to the contrary. 5. H. C. Shirpe stated that "Silas t old Dr. JWT. Shubrick that the fines and for feitures did not go to the Free School funil." This is recorded lie No. 4, and I eferyou to JDr. J. T; Shubrick's card be ow. ' -' 6u This infamoui political! demagogue wants to know if I will advocate a special ax. ! I will if it is necessary to execute the School l law, 1 which he says is necessary . rJut he, lik a corrupt violator of the law, Doasts : of this infraction of the criminal law of the State, 'and thinks it ought to put a. laurel in his crown. i j 7. II. C. Sharpe says I did z.at reply to bis charge of illegality of the action of the "Board ;ro I Justices"! in witholding the bond of tne Inferior Court Clerk from the Registrar of Deeds. Why I did not,' was, 1st, that the law does not require it to be filed in that office specially, and 2ndly, be cause the charge carried so much corrup tion on its face that" it needed no reply to exptiseits baseness. - 'r, , 'Now I propose to give briefly ! the cause pf Silas assaults on the originator of this opposition . After , this opposition to the Court com menced, 1 heard that the same charges . 1 ... . IMMBWMMMMWiMWiMMMMMMMMMMMMBl-iinilll Hi Hill I i " 'i n ' imn tnat 11, p. bharpe had published agalnft me in the ExojbiKEn, with many other, and to ivhich i will presently reply, were being clrculatejiri the County with inten tion to Injure me and also to reflect on the Cmirt4l being jtbe Solicitor of the Court. I endeavored to find but the author of these io famous;. slanders, but could not. Isuspicioned Hi C. Sharpe, but could get evidence against him, theu adopted the plan of writing these seven articles pub- hsbeu in the Esuiekk 'Silos', hoping i in; that under the name of way to force some confe; ssmn or acknowledgement fiom the invenror. fo thp I might expose him. . I did not reveal niy ulterior object to bat one or two esteemed friends. H. S. Sharpe coqfesscs his guilt, by having the same charges !publishe;d against me in hi reply to Silasl' owfl saddle him with the in famy of; these slanderous charges, which were intended for political purpores ard to injure me. His (first Ichaige is: 1. 'Are the good people of Hertford county aware that after assisting to win the suit of the county against Sheriff Pip kin ana his sureties and getting judgement thereon.; B. B. Winborne turned over to the other side and sued the County for war claims, as an offset against the tax claim wh'ich be previously yon ? in consequence, the county is most helpless. Surely this is bad morality.? The rtflution bf thislwould-be slanderer, will recoil upon bis own back as soon as I state the facts of the above charge, Jobn A.
