AN ORDINANCE IN REGARD TO RE

Be it ordained by the Board of Aldermen of
the City of Wilmington, as follows :

Brokers, Commission Merchants, Insurance
Companies, Telegraph Companies, Gas Com
panies and Ferries, shall make return to the
Clerk of the Board of Assessors of all sales and
frequent -clays of pub- receipts, on or before the 10th of each and every
fcsec. li. Any person. lirm or comnanv. who
shall negtect or rjefuse tumalso suck return, shall
be liable to a penalty ot $ 10 lor every such neg
icct or reiusai, and in case ot such neglect or
refusal it shall be the duty ol the Clerk of the
Board ot Assessors to estimate such sales or re
ceipts, and to assess the same against such, per
son, fin or company, together with the penalty
herein provided, land the same shall be collected
m the same manner as others monthly taxes.
Sec. 3. This ordinance shall be in force from
and after the pasjsage thereof.

N ORDINANCE FOR THE BETTER PRO -
tection of the Police force.
- Whereas doubts have bceu entertained as to
the construction of section 4 of General Ordi
nances of the city of Wilmington.
Be it ordained by the Board of Aldermen of
the city ot Wilmington as fo'lloivs:
Section 1. That any policeman who may be on
his beat or acting under the orders of the Mayor
or Marshal, whether by day or by night, shall be
declared to be in the discharge ot duty, and any
person who may violate the said section of said
ordinance shall suffer the penalties thereby en
forced, any ordinance to the contrary notwith
standing. '
Sec. 2. This ordinance shall be in force from
and after its passage.
