For several years past, in making my annual reports, I have Btated there in, the, causes of. death the age and other circumstances relating thereto, for'. each '"permit" issued, feeling-i satis fied whilecloing so, that in many cases it was more guess work than other wise. I am now glad to report that some influence has awakened interest chough on the ctibjeO of "vital statis- tislics" to develop a system, which, if it could but enlist the co-operation of the entire medical fraternity of the city, Would furnish tike information desired, and would be both reliable and valuable qr reference. Through the influence intendent of Health; Dr. of tho,Super- A. E. Wright, the Board of Aldermen passed an ordi nance in May last, with a view .of col lecting f uch information The. certify cates required by said ordinance were printed anc distributed By Dr. Wright among.the icity physicians.
