Among the colored lh -publicans who labored earnestly, arty and late, for the success of our party in the lato canvass, none have distinguished themselves, or deserve the thanks of Jvcpublieans, very where, more than Messrs. They have worked incessantly night and day, going round among the people and meet ing them at their firesides and arousing them to the importance of the great struggle for liberty. Died. Mr. Ilalph Oorrcll, at his resilience in Cireensboro, on last Saturday. Ho was a member of the bar of North Carolina, and was an intimate friend of the late Governor CIraham. It is said that they both practical at tho same bar for nearly a half century. It is a singular, though sad, coincidence, that the funeral services of each should tako place at tho same time and in Pres byterian churches. Mr. Gorrell be ing one of the oldest members of tho bar of Guilford, his loss will 'bo deeply deplored. y Gov. Urogdex. This gentleman who has held the Executivo scales of State with such eiuilibrium dur ing the past year or more as to call forth the highest praise even from the opposition press, is now being arraigned before tho public in a mostrunjust light for failing to do what the writers (of the uncalled for articles to which we refer) them- selves confess that he has neither had the time nor the authority to do, . r., to call an election in Orange to till the vacancy occasioned by the death of Gov. Graham. We will say to those who are now at tempting to impute unrighteous motives to the Governor that he has performed the duties of his office irreieetive of party or parties in the past, and ho will doubtless do tho same in the future. The at tacks are unwarranted and should not be continued without some foundation. We would call the attention of readers to tho advertisement of Horace Waters & Sons, headed, 41 Waters' Concerto Parlor Organs," and for a description of them we can't do letter than to copy tho fol lowing : Waters' Concerto Parlor Organs. The 'Waters' new and leautiful parlor organs are the fin est instruments of the kind we have seen. We are sure they will be come the favorite wherever known. Besides being a beautiful piece of furniture, they have all the richness of a grand organ, the effect of an orchestra, the sweetness of a llute, ami the variety of a piano. We allude to the new patented concerto organ of Horace Waters A Sons, No. tsi Broadway, N. Y. This really splendid instrument has an extra set of reeds, so tuned as to imitate a rich alto voice. The tQues given are sweet, or soft, or loud, or heavy, as the player may wish. They give a written guarantee with each instrument sold, for six years." Miners' Journal, Pottsville, Pa.
