Other bills were: To incorporate a North Carolina Society lor the Prevention ot Cruelty to Children; to repeal the act appropriating $10, 000 annually to the Oxford Orphan Asylum. JjiJle abolishing the death penalty and to establish courtaof oyer and terminer were tabled. The Senate session Thursday was brief, and was devoted mainly to the dieciifston of a bill to reduce the salaries of the railway commis sioners from $2,000 to $1,500. The Dt-njocrats and a few Republicans antagonized this bill, but it was panned by a vote of 32 to 7. No reason for the passage of such a bill was given.
