Thus it will be seen that the Emma Katie beat the Zula, which was the next fastest boat in both races,1 3 minutes and 32 seconds on the first race,1 and 1 minute and 114 seconds on the second race. . Proposals for Construction of JUtfe Sav ing Stations. Seal id proposals will be received at this office until 12 o'clock noon, of Wednes day July 31, 1878, for the construction of thirteen complete life-saving stations, on the coasts of Virginia and North Carolina, ten of Baid stations to be erected at inter mediate points between existing stations, and three between Little Kinnakeet, North Carolina, and Hatteras t Inlet. Tho seven Northern and 6ix Southern stations will bo bid for separately, and both contracts will not be awarded to the same party. The buildings must be completed, ready for occupancy, on, or before the 15th day of November, 1878. Each bid must be accompanied by a bond in the sum of $1,000, with two good and sufficient sureties, conditional that the National Worklngman'i i'arty.
