We are ex pecting an aqcourit fnr publication in Our next is.ue I Hon. L. JMoore,3s confined to h!s bd with serious but not danger ous illness anci it is hoped he wiil be in a condition ,to attend to business in a few days.' ; Circumstauces were such that we could not get but an issue yesteirday and we may be unable to publish an issue Monday, however, we do not propose for our patrons to loose by it and shall skip the number of issues rais-sod in making out our bills. The article alluded to by the Journ al was copied. by us from the ITews Obsa vcr, and as that paper published it without credit it appeared as an original article aud we very properly the Jews-Observer cucdit for it. Ve bad not read the Joyxiia tainiug the article. It is real p'easaht to step into the railroad office and find the genial faces of CoL Whitford, Treasurer Koberts and other efiacient officers of the At & N. C. R. It., who . have given their best energies and the benefit of their talent to the success of the road, and who have been eo long and faithfully- identified with '. it. Col. Whitford commenced work ing hard for the road from the first whisper of such an enterprise and much of bis life has, been;" de voted to its welfare. Whatever oay be said as lo the zeal of others being put forth for the sake of 'personal ajjgraudizeient, we do 'pot think Arrival and Departure 1 this charge can be laid at Col. Whit ford's door. If he were not to receive one cent for his services and could afford to give his time to the road under such circumstances, we. hon estly believe he would cheerfully and willingly do so, if in 'doing so he could further' the interests of th? road. He has ever given the project his hearty support and the best days of, bis life have been spent in working, fpr its prosperity. Mr. Jas, A. Bryan has only recently become an active officer in the Company,,-yet he has (proven himself to be a nv?st efficient I one. The Midland Co. managed the road in a very creditable manner in some respects and there were some very fine gentlemen in the manage ment. We have never met a more agreeable, pleasant gentleman than Col. Andrews. Yet it is more refresh jr.lf?T r'hen one has business in the little brick office to find one's own people there to find familiar, home faces, especially whfn it is known the owners of these home faces are experienced and efficient railroad men, fully capable of discharging all the duties devolving OD them and of doing as good part by the road as could be done.
