The criminal docket is heavy. Ederecombe is said to need a special term for civil business. James II Moore, a young man about 17 years of age, residing about five miles up the Neuse river, from Newberne, met Avith a terrible accident on Tuesday from the accidental discharge of a gun, which tore all the fingers (except the little nnfi off- his left hand into frag ments. The Wilmington Star regrets to learn of an accident to Mr Henry Nutt, Esq. While riding in his buggy, the horse took fright and started to run away, and Mr Nutt attempted to save himself by Him ping out of the vehicle. In doing so he struck so heavily upon the ground as to inflict some bruises and cause his whnlA svstem to sustain such a shock that ho is-now confined to his bed. Laid Up We regret to learn that C B Edwards, Esq., of the firm of Edwards & Brough- tnn is confined to his house by reason of a severe hurt to his foot yesterday. The SmitU Case. We are informed that Judge Watts will be in this city on Friday evening next, and that the application for a writ of habeas corpus in the case of Mrs. Mann and Mrs. Smith will be heard on Saturday morning. Mind liow you Jump. Little Harvey, son of Marshal Car row, had his hip joint dislocated to-day, while at play near the academy. Dr. E. Burke Haywood was called and promptly reduced the dislocation, giv ing great relief to the little sufferer. Sympathy for Boston. That large hearted and philanthropical man, Dr. Blacknall, of the Yarborough House, was one of the first in the move ment to express sympathy for Boston. On Tuesday night he presided over a meeting of our citizens in that behalf, at which that good man Rev. Father McNamara submitted1 some remarks expressive of the sentiment of the great body of our people. These remarks are found elsewhere in The Era of to-day, and to them we invite attention. Turner's Almanac, Mr. Jas. H. Enniss has got out and ready for distribution, " Turner's North Carolina Almanac for the year of our Lord 1873." Equitable Insurance Company, Prov idence, Rhode Island, has suspended. Twenty-one thousand dollars worth of property was recovered yesterday from Boston fire thieves. One prominent failure in Boston an nounced. Stanfield, Wentworth fc Co., Dry Goods and Commission Mer chants Boston and New York. Ex pected they will resume. A Greeley-War mouth man has been arrested in New Orleans charged with conspiracy, deception - and fraud in printing counterfeit election tickets in similitude to the Republican tickets printed and voted by Republicans of the State. It is estimated that a quarter of a mil lion of sides of leather were burned m Boston. Prices advanced on unfinished leather 10 per cent., sole leather 3 and 6 per cent. Further advance anticipated. Sheep skins held high. It is estimated that three million pounds of wool was burned. Prices advanced 10 per cent. Prospect of peace in Mexico. General Ceballos, Military Governor of Swoloo announce the pacification of that State without blood shed.
