During tho per formance of Prof. Sllvano at Tucker I lull on Thursday night, the 30th ult., an alarm was given that the Hall was on fire. The light from the building on lire near at hand, shone through tho windows of the Hall and caused the utmost con sternation. A general rush ensued, during which several ladies came near fainting. On such occasions it is always best, if possible, to ex hibit calmness and thus avoid con fusion, which frequently leads to sad consequences. I. (). G. T. At a meeting of Hickman Lodge, No. 1, 1. O. Many of our readers doubtless remember the particulars of what is known as the great Douglas Will case. Hon. S. A. Douglas left a will in which it was provided that his large real estate in Chicago should be sold and divided between his widow and his two sons by his first wife, Robt. M. andJStephen A. Douglas. After tho death of the father the proper ty was placed in the hands of Dr. P. Rhodes, of Cleveland, Ohio, as executor. Dr. Rhodes agreed with a man named Dobbins to purchase the property jointly, which was done at an enormous sacrifice. The suit wits brought by the boys to recover the property on the grounds of ille gal purchase, as the laws of Illinois prevent an executor from being directly or indirectly interested in the purchase of lands, goods, &c.t of which he may have the disposal. The case was decided lately by Judge Williams, in favor of the heirs who, it is said, will now real ize about $250,000. The many friends of Robert and Stephen will do giau to near oi ineir gooa ior- tune, an4 we hope it will prove to them a blessing instead of. as is the case with some young men, a curse.
