Mr. Hugh Kendrick left yesterday af ternoon for Greenville, Ala. From there he will go to Miami, Fla. Mr. Kendrick will engage in the lumber business and will make a permanent location in Flor ida. t The following committee from the Chamber of Commerce has beem appointed to prepare a page article on the City of Raleigh to appear in a special Southern number of Harper’s Weekly: President F. Cooke and Mr. F. K. Cooke, of Louisburg, were here yesterday. State Commissioner of Labor H. B. Varner, arrived in the city yesterday. Mr. Ashly Baker left yesterday for Graham, where he will spend several davs. Mr.' Wm. H. Pace came in yesterday afternoon to spend Christmas here with relatives. Mr. Ed. S. Abell, representative-elect from Johnston county, was in the city yesterday. Messrs. George N. Stell, A. V. Bobbitt and C. C. Winston, of Youngsville, was in the city yesterday. Mr. A. L. Jones has returned to his homo in Virgilina, Va., after a visit to Dr. A. O. Jones here. Mr. Charles Ross, of Asheboro, who represented Randolph in the last House, spent yesterday in Raleigh. Hon. Lee S. Overman, who spent Tues day in the city, returned to his home in Salisbury yesterday morning. Mr. E. C. McGinnis, who has been spending a few days here returned to Durham yesterday morning. Master William James Boylan arrived yesterday afternoon from Horner’s School, at Oxford, to spend the Christ mas holidays with his parents. Mr. F. A. Hatch, who lives on Morgan street, between Dawson and McDowell, has been very ill for the past week. His condition yesterday showed no im provement. Rev. J. O. Alderman returned to his home in Windsor, N. C., last night after spending a few days in the city on his return from the Baptist State Convention at Durham. New Officers for Central Church.
