Mr. S. J. Mltchenef. who lives two
miles aouth of Gamer, was In Raleigh
yesterday. Speaking about the "hail
storm, he tid: t .
"About three o'clack the storm be
gan and lasted about half an-hour.
TTvere was about as hard wind a 1
ever saw. The ground I was literally
covered .with hail, tlte i stones being

Just above me. Mr. Percy Mitchener
had twelve acres in cotton. The de
struction was so great that I do not
believe you could go over the whole
twelve acres and sret your hat full of
leaves. Others' damaged but not as
bad. Cannot tell yet how great was
the damage: The width of the storm
at its most was not wider than a half
or three quarters of a mile. The son
of Mr. Bryant, who lives about one
mile from me. says that -they think
of giving up the crop- arid work for
wages. They ;say the hail was a foot
deep In the yard and there was Ice

W. B. Bryan and his. son. Andrew,
were seen and Mr. Andrew Bryan said:
"The cotton crop is -in bad rhape. -I
could not find after the hall storm any
leaves on my potton.or my father's.
There Is as yet no tellng the amount

thought I had the best crop I had ever
had. It was up to my,walst. The hall
broke much 'of It off and a lot of it
was stripped ;off the blades. The loss,
is so jrreat that I may get employment
elsewhere for there Is sufficient labor
with my brother to make the short
