This statement was made on the au thority of gentlemen who told of Mr. Edwards condition, jbut a letter from Mr. Edwards this is! not true.; that he nas not neen intoxicated fori several years, that he is sorrjy that he was ever addicted to the use; of strong drink, and that he has quit the use of this entirely, and is now a. church member. Mr. Edwards says) that the overdose of Somnos was entirely an accident and there was no purpose of suicide. In conversation had wih Dr. Cotton- this week Dr. Cotton states that! the ap pearance of intoxication probably came from the medicine used, and hence the statement 0f Mr. Edwards is cheerfully published that he was not drunk.
