If his statement is true Rollins is not lit-, be the head of a party that is trying to become respectable in this State. He even accuses Rol lins of being ''a willing falsifier,' and closes by saying that "if he U not big enough to tell the truth and deal squarely he should re Ship Sank At Sea. Newport News, Va., Dec. 18.- The German steamer Andes is now 48 days overdue from this port ior Guanta, Venezuela, and she has been posted in Lloyd's regis ter of shipping as lost. Since the Andes passed out ot the Virginia capes, on the morning oi Sunaay October 22, she has not been seen or heard ol, and today it was an nounced that her owner has given her up as lost. It is believed that the .vessel encountered a sever starm while passing through the West Indies, and that she, wit her master. Captain Manz, an the entire crew of 22 went to the bottom.. After accidentally killing his wife Sat urday, William Monroe AicCarty, a Madison county farmer,' chloro formed himself at his home in the Monrovia precinct and was found dead today. The chances are that this profound interest in the well beimpf the consular service will lead to his appointment on the. ob of "inspecting . consulates which is one of the best grafts in he inft of the government for a mau who wants his expenses paid )r a trip around the world with nothing to do. It will be iuterest- n- to see whether Mr. JUoomis interest in the service starts him off on a trip of this sort. The statehood bills ot Oklaho ma and Indian Territory and for Arizona aud New Mexico will in all probability be anions: the meas ures that win get a hearing in a ew weeks. There is a big uelega. tion of Oklahoma boomers and Indian Territory people in Wash ington now in the interests ot their bill. They are perfectly willing for a joint statehood aud in all probability the Hamilton bin, which comes the nearest to tneir wishes, will be passed. About the only thing they object to is any provision for total- abstinence m the new state. I hey say that the o-o'vernment, being the guardian of the Indians can naturally no with them as it likes, but tuey de.- cidedly object to coming into the Onion with a prohibition proviso applying to all the white people in the state as well as the Indians On the other hand, the bill for joint- Statehood between New Mexico and Arizona will, in all probability have a harder road to travel. Senator LSeveridfre has made a personal measure of the joint statehood bill, and has inter ested the President in it to the ex tent of having him endorse the measure in the late message. But at the same time it is doubtful if there will be any, further active support for the bill from the White House. There are no . delegations from either territory in Washing ton in the interests of the bill, and the anxiety for joint statehood, if any exists, is almost entirely on the side of New Me'xico.
