Mr. B. M. Poe made the trip to Goldston, a distance of 14 miles, in his Buick runa bout a day or two ago in less than an hour, which could not often be done in December over our red clay roads. There will be a Presbyterian bazaar and oyster supper at the Glenn Hotel next Saturday, the 16th, from 2 till 10 o'clock p- m A voting contest will tae place during the afternoon. Moore left yester day for Greensboro on a short visit to her daughter, Mrs. Thos. L. Parsons, before joining Dr. Moore at his new charge at Snow Hill. Her many friends will be glad to know that Mrs. L. R. Exline is able to be up again, after be ing confined to her bed for sev eral days with an attack of rheu matism. Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Cook, of Red Springs, have been here on a short visit to the latter's sister, Mrs. Fred. P. Nooe. They came through the country in Mr-Cook's Ford automobile. Our young coantyman, Mr. Carl N. Telfair, of Raleigh, entered from the vestry room and met the bride at the cnancei. it was a most attractive and beautiful scene as the bridal party was grouped in front of the altar and amid a solemn silence the cere mony was impressively performed. The bride wore a gown of white satin en train, trimmed with rose point lace and pearls. Her veil was caught Pack with a wreath of orange blossoms and a string of pearls (an heirloom in her father's family) worn by her great-grandmother and all the brides of the family for four generations. Her bouquet was a shower of roses and lillies of The bridesmaids of pink messaline and the maid of honor wore white chiffon over pink and car ried Killarney roses. An unique feature was the bridesmaids car rying a chain of trailing arbor vitae and mistletoe held by loops of green and pink ribbons. After the ceremony the bridal party retired from the church in reverse order to the strain's of Mendelssohn's march, plaved by the bride s aunt, Mrs. A. M. Haughton, who had played on the same organ at other mar riages for more than sixty years. From 9 to 11 o clock a recep tion was given the bride and groom at the residence of the former's parents, that was great ly enjoyed by the very large number of guests who were present. The array of presents was much admired, being many and from all parts of this State and other States. The bride is one of the most popular and at tractive belles in this State, her beauty of person only equalled by the beauty of her character and attractive manners. The groom is a gentleman of unusu ally fine character and numbers his friends only by the number of his acquaintances, amd holds a responsible position with a large wholesale Mew York house. much rabbit eater.
