All par ties, even the bitterest political opponent of Mr. Duf fy, has regarded the observation of Lord Clarendon as to his guilt not only unbailed for, but wicked and unconstitutional. What wm.hl W-iT- -..a THE PURPOSES OF THE AGITATORS. The Hon. A. W. Venable, a member of Co.ogress from North Carolina, recently addressed bis consti tuents at Yanceyville, in which, according to the Milton Chronicle, he proclaimed the following mon strous doctrine: 'Mr. Vennble, after discussing Abolitionism, Dis union, &a, &c, came out boldly for each State in the South to puss Laws to prevent Northern men from collecting debts in the South to prohibit Nor thern ships -from coming into Southern ports and if a Northern ship at any time chanced to be caught in a Southern port, Mr. Venable says, confiscate the property!'" Mr. Venable, it will be recollected, was the Sec retary of the meeting of members of Congress, which put forth the address of the Calhoun faction. He is a new convert to. the faith of the South Carolina Agitator, and may therefore be supposed to proclaim the principles of the faction with which he has so recently identified himself. He therefore is a prom inent actor in the conspiracy against the Union and the liberties of the people, and it is for this reason that we desire to call the attention of the intelligent and patriotic of the Lind to the sentiments uttered by him sod the purposes which he declares influence his action. A more ultra and treasonable purpose against the republic could not be entertained than is here openly avowed by one of the leaders of the fac tion, who are now zealously engaged in promoting sectional jealousies. There is no concealment of his purposes, and in his zeal to alienate one section of the Union from another, he invokes" the people of the South to violate the constitution of the Union, to sustain the ultraism and disorganizing doctrines of this faction of Agitators. Are the people of the 8outb prepared to endorse the sentiments of Mr. Calhoun and his followers, as avowed by his prose lyte, Mr. Venable? Or, do they rather prefer that conservative course which shall secure harmony a among the American people, and give to them the blessings of our republican institutions 1 If the lat ter, it becomes your duty to the country, to 'your selves and posterity, to frown indignantly u no rr every effort of these dUorgnnizers and disuniooiats to ar ray one section of the Union against another. . ? As yet, so far as our information goes, he has expressed, no intiiiiHiion of hi inten lion, which we have ho doubt worries the curi osity of the gentle tex: in that neighborhood very much. We suspect he is one of your indifferent, calculating individuals, who is much harder to see through than a millstone with a hole in it. It is said that the new husband took advice of a lawyer before he married the lady. He must have been a learned judge" who advised such a match ! " A second Daniel" ! Another singular pWt of the business is. that it seems to be verv questionable among the peo ple of the neighborhood, which husband the lady loves best, even now. j And some have suggested that if there should be any question as to who is entitled to her, that ilj should bo left to her to decide. P. S. Since the above was written, we learn that the former husband has taken possession of his wife, and thev are now living togeiher. Fayettecille Carolinian. INTERNAL IMPROVEMENT MEETING.
