It is carefully calculated by Rev. Dr. Craven of Trinity Col lege, and altogether forms such an interesting reference book for the Farmer, Merchant and others that they will be fully compensated in the small outlay of ten cents a copy and sold wholesale and retail. B, White, near Henderson, were seizad by Deputy Collector R. E. Young, on Monday, for alleged violation of the Internal Revenue law. In the factory there were 7,000 pounds of manufactured tobacco making a good haul for one day. BO, . The- jary in the Stokes case has returned a verdict of manslaughter in the third degree. He was sentenced to four years at hard labor.' judge Davis said : In rendering this verdict. Stokes, the jury have exhausted, and more than exhausted all mercy in your case. ' No appeal to this court can diminish the Sentence from th? highest penalty affixed by the statute in the degree in which you are convicted, ' and that is feq light and apparently trifling, as compared with the great crime you have committed. ' '- ' The I failure of Ho yt, Sprague & Co., caused a heavy decline in values on stock eichange, and a depression outside. The restoration of confidence previously going on has received a check by this event which can only be looted upon a public calamity in the present condition af affairs. The stock market opened steady, but soon became weak and continued to decline until the 1 o'clock board, when a upward rea-tion set in. She decline ranged from 1, to 4 per cent. Since then the merket has werkened again. A dispatch from Pitteburg Pa., says that the blast fnrnaces of Morehead & Co., on the Mo nongahela river, have suspended and the said suspension foreshadows the closing up of the remainder of such furnaces in . that city and the Mahoning and Shenango valleys. There are eight of these farnaces,' employing about 10,000 men. FROM PENNSYLVANIA. Philadelphia, Oct. 30. Morgan, Young, Altremens & Co., dry goods merchants, have suspended. Their liabilities are $600,000. They will be able pay 75 to 80 cants on the'dollar. This house sold $2,000, 000 annually. ' Wm. M. Lloyed, banker, of Allentown, has suspended. Lloyd has half a dozen offices throughout the State. FROM ALABAMA. ' Montgomery, Oct. 30. No yellow fever deaths here. No new cases. Heaviest frost this r season. For the twenty-four hours, ending at o'clock last night, there were nine yellow fever dehths and 9 from other caeses, The Board of Health officially notifies the absentees that they may safely return. FROM INDIANA. . Richmond Co. Oct. 30. A fight with small arms and Bix-pounder cannon, is progressing in this county, over the location of the county seat, and the possession of the county railroads.
