Rousseau, who holds a position with the Home Owners' Loan Corporation in Greensboro, spent th© week-end with relatives and friends here. Mr. Homer Faw, student at Banner Elk, and Miss Marjorie Faw, student at Guilford College, spent last week-end here with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Faw. Mrs. P. W. Eshelman and two sons. Ward. Va.. is spending a two-weeks va cation with his father and moth er, Register of Deeds and Mrs. T. H. Settle. Mr. and Mrs. David Lane have moved t^> the new residence one mile south of Wilkesboro on the Moravian Falls road. They will operate an ice cream parlor and grocery store. Miss Helen Bostic and Miss Ghita Tuttle, memberw -of the Wilkesboro school faculty the past session, returned to thetr homes Friday, Miss Bostic to Greensboro and Miss Tuttle to Rural Hall. Mr. Julius C. Hubbard under went a tonsil operation at The Wilkes Hospital Friday. He is recovering rapidly and has re sumed his duties with The Journal-Patriot. Social for the Friendship Ep- worth League will be held at the church near Millers Creek Tues day night. .Ml members are urg ed to attend and the general public is invited. Mrs. J. B. Marley celebrated their golden wlddlng anniversary yesterday at their home'on North Patterson ave nue. In the afternoon they were “at home’’ to a large number of relatives and friends who called. They were the recipients of many lovely gifts and a weaKh of beautiful flowers. At noon Mr. and Mrs. Marley had as their guests for dinner their out-of-town visitors, Mr. and Mrs. John Brookshire, Mr. and Mrs. Philo Brookshire, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Marley and J. Glenn Marley. They also remain ed for the afternoon occasion. For the afternoon occasion the home was decorated with quanti ties of flowers. • The main attraction on the table was a larp w-edding cake. It |vas decorated with a minia ture bride , and bridegroom. On the table wer© tall crystal hold ers, and in these were pink tap ers that were lighted. The cake was mounted on a gorgeous ^ foundation made of sweet peas, p I ferns ami rosebuds. ^ ,\s the guests arrived they were greeted by Mesdames J. E. Crpven. A. F. Craven. Glenn .Marley, and Frank Kennedy. Mr. and Mrs. Marley were married fifty years ago in .Alex ander county, with the Rev. Jim mie Poole officiating. They have two children. Mrs. J. E. The teacher, Mr. Danp Sajp, gave a number of students certificates of perfect attendance. The entrance salary is ?2,300 a year, subject to a deduction of not to exceed 10 percent until June 30, 1034, and of not to ex ceed 5 percent during the fiscal year ending June 30. 1935, as a measure of economy, and also to a deduction of 3 1-2 percent to ward a retirement annuity.
