Miss Annie Jo Haigwood. In the absence of the leader, Mrs. R. P. Alexander A business and social meeting of the Toung Ladies’ Bible class of the Wilkeshoro Methodist church was held on Monday eve ning at the home of Mrs. J. H. Alexander. The main business item was to make plans for a food sale to be held Saturday. Eight members were present and enjoyed a delightful social hour during which time, dainty re freshments were served. A.'s In Fine Meetings Wednesday Both groups of the Junior Girl’s Auxiliary of the First Bap tist church held interestiug meetings on Wednesday and each one was largely attended. The green group was entertain ed by Mary Lois Frasier in the afternoon with an attendance of fourteen members and a number of visitors. A special feature of their program was & solo sang by Little Martha Frazier. The leader, Mrs. Bernard Williams, was in charge of the prdgram. Mrs. A. C. Dennis, president of the society, attended the meet ing. Hostess for the white group was Elsie Butner at her home in the evening at seven o’clock having twenty - three present. Nellie Hall presided and the program was led by Agnes El- ledge. Tbe leader, Miss Lnnda Hendren, was present and speci al visitors were Mrs. A. 0. Den nis, Mrs. J. I. Myer.-J und Miss Marie Haigwood. Miss Frank Somers Is Hostess To Bridge Club Miss Frank Somers entertain ed at bridge at her home in Wilkesboro Saturday afternoon and had as guests members of her own bridge club and a few other friends. Jenkins made a short talk emphasizing the duties and responsibilities of a teacher in the Sunday school. At the close of the evening Mrs. Wagoner, assisted by Mrs. Er nest Blackman, served delightful refreshments. j P r f [ Baptist Missionary Society Met With Mrs. EJler With the Dozier Circle in charge of the program a most interesting meeting of the North Wilkesboro Baptist Missionary Society was held on Tuesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. E. E. Eller. Mrs. E- M. Blackburn, chairman of circle led the devotional period after which the topic “Contribution to World Mindness” was presented by Mrs. Blackburn, Mrs. W. A. Bullis, and Mrs. Tal Barnes. Special prayers were offered by Mrs- Tip McNeill and Mrs. Blackburn. Mrs- A. C. Dennis, the president, was in charge of the business part of the meeting, the usual reports being heard. The meeting was well at tended. Miss Ruby Hartley Hostess to Friendly Circle The Friendly Circle of the Wil kesboro Methodist church held an enthusiastic meeting on Tuesday evening at the home of Miss Ruby Hartley 'with a full attendance of members- Program leader for the evining was Miss Mattie Gray Guthrie and with the assistance of a number of the girls, an instruc tive program on “The Missionary Society of the Methodist church in Brazil” was given- Miss Guthrie conducted the devotional and the business session was presided over by Miss Irene Culler. Delightful re freshments were served during the social hour. Ladies’ Bible Class Met Tuesday Evening Mrs. T. H. Waller and Mrs- J- D- Kennerly joined hospitality to the members of the Young Ladies’ Bible class of the North Wilkes boro Methodist church in iheir business and soiial meeting on Tuesday evening at the home of Mrs. Waller on Sixth street. The meeting opened wnth Miss Ruth Colvard reading the scripture les- .son after which Mr. W. G. Gabriel, teacher of the class, led in prayer. The president of class, Mrs. Walter Newton, presided for routine busi ness. Plans were discussed for the annual picnic and Mrs. Murphy Hunt, Mrs. J- D. Schafer and Mrs. Ivey Moore were appointed as a committee to make arangements for the picnic. The hostesses serv ed tempting refreshments during i the social hour.
