Bender, who had been guests of Mr. and Mrs. Moore, returned to their home in Lexington with them. Miss Thelma Kirkman return ed to her home in Greensboro Sunday after spending a week here with her sister, Mrs. Bryan Higgins. Her mother, Mrs. C. M. Kirkman, and Miss Lottie Bum- side. both of Greensboro, motor ed up for the day to accompany her home. Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Hobbs and family. Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Hobbs and family, of Mt. Felts returned to his I home at Hays Tuesday from 17-township, passed away Mon day night at the home. of. her daughter, Krs. >'Charles: Miller, with whom she made her’itome. C., on an ex tended visit with Mrs. Steele’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. O. h. El Mrs. Jessie Bell, who left sev eral days ago after a visit with .Mrs. R. B. Fharr, and other rela tives in Wilkesboro, was serious ly injured in an automobile wreck in South Carolina last week while on their way home, a message received yesterday stated. Mrs. Bell suffered a brok en leg and other painful injuries. She is a sister of the late Mrs. D. E. Smoak, Sr., and resides in Charleston, S. C. Attorney Fred Hutchens, of Winston-Salem, was here this week looking after professional business matters. He is employ ed by Julius A. BOOMER NEWS BOOMER, July 17. — Mrs. Laura Greer Hester is visiting friends and relatives at Dudley Shoals. Miss Mary Ferguson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. S. Ferguson, has gone to the Wilkes Hospital for treatment. Mr. Dave Munday, of Trout man, formerly of Boomer, died Saturday, July 14, and was bur ied here Monday. The funeral was conducted by the Revs. E. V. Bumgarner and C. C. Holland. He is survived by h'S wife and six children. His wife w-as Miss Minnie Russell, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs, Avery Russell. The floral offering was beauti ful. Dr. G. J. Bentley, of Norton, Va., visited friends here a few hours one day last week. He was located here for a while about twenty years ago.
