A call meeting of the Fergu
son Parent-Teachers’ Association
was held at the school building
Wednesday evening of last week
for the purpose of securing funds
to buy stage scenery and cur
tains for the school building. Mr.
Walsh, of Boomer, who has been
working In this business for
-some time was present, and sub
mitted plans for the purchase of
said scenery. The Parent-Teach
ers’ Association started the
ball to rolling by subscribing
$35.00 for an ad on the screen.
Much Interest was manifested.
At present, there seems to be no
doubt about the accomplishment
of the task.
Not because any demand has
been made, nor not necessarily
because It has been a custom for
a long time to “treat” the chil
dren just before Chrlstm-.is, but
as a token of the cordial friend
ship that exists between, and
among the teachers and children,
a small treat will be given in
all the rooms sometime this
week. ..
A play. The Poor Married
Man, will be given Thursday
evening, the 20th, beginning at
7 p. m. The cast of characters

Senator Allen Garrett. On the
golden wedding anniversary of
Mr. and Mrs. William S. Garrett,
Senator Garrett presented to his
father a handsome gold-headed
cane. After his father’s death
the cane was returned to the
donor, who on thi.s occasion pre
sented it to his brother. Further
interest wa4 attached to the gift
as the scene of the two celebra
tions was in the same home.
Mrs. Garrett, who was Miss
Lelia Jones, is a daughter of the
late Benjamin Jones and Mary
Wilson Deshazo Jones, of Ridge
way, Va. Mr. Garrett is a son of
the late William S. Garrett and
Mary Ann Price Garrett, in
whose home he has lived since
his parents’ death.
The bride of 50 years ago gave
the impression that time has
dealt kindly with her. and was

golden wedding day.
