k. A. C. Dennis Is ^Heetess To T. E. L. Class The monthly meeting of the T*. E. L. class of the First Bap- , list charts was held on Tuesday '*i«ht at the home of Mrs. A. C. Sennis in Wilkesboro with thir teen members and two visitors attending. Mrs. A. H. Andrews, the president, was in charge of IF ITS AT THE LIBERTY IT’S THE BEST SHOW IN TOWN the business session « at which time a number of matters came up for discussion. Pians for se curing new .members and in creasing the attendance was given, much thought and Mrs. D. S. Lane, the secretary of class, was asked to send a card to those absent. The members are piecing a quilt for the orphanage at Thomasville, which wilt be com pleted soon. The meeting opened with Mrs. C. C. Kilby leading an impres sive devotional period. Fulp joined hospitality to the members of the Woman’s Bible class of the North Wilkes boro Methodist church at the home of Mrs. Horton on Sixth Street Tuesday afternoon. Pre siding for routine business was the president, Mrs. Wl E. Shu- ford, who also was in charge of the devotional period. The eigh teen members attending were served delicious refreshments during the social hour that fol lowed meeting by Mrs. Horton and her daughter, Mrs. Walter Newton, and Mrs. Fulp. liody ‘ot 'WHfeesl^fp to the aaaembly perioA yesterday. , The address by.Mr. Eshelman was the last of a .sefies of four sponsored by the”^ Vocational Guidance Committed of the North Wilkesboro Kiwanis Cluib. Mr. Eshelman spoke in a very interesting and instructive man ner to the students and his ad dress was received with rapt at tention by the assembly. He stressed “deportment such that would make a good impression’’ and "thoroughness’’ in his ad dress, which contained very timely advice and Instruction. “Men are more valuable than women.’’ “What utter nonsense: “It’s a fact. Every man has his price; but brides are given away.” Garden Club Organized ! In North Wilkesboro I A Garden Department of the ’ North Wilkesboro Woman’s club ! was organized on Monday after noon at the home of Mrs. Chal j .McNeil with an enrollment of [twenty members. Following is a j list of officers that were chosen I at the meeting to lead the or ganization, Chairman, Mrs. Chal 'McNeil; vice chairman, Mrs. , Walter Newton; .secretary and I treasurer. Mrs. W. J. Allen. The meetings will be held monthly diirin.g the summer months on the third Thursday of each month at !l;30 o'clock in the I morning. .Mrs. Walter .Newton I wa.s announced as the hostess for the next meeting which will i j be held in May. i i For the program .Mrs. C. B. El- j ler gave an interesting talk on; the .Magnolia Gardens at Charles-1 ton, S. the Middleton Gar-' dens, and the rhododendron gar den at Linville owned by -Mr. Gwyn, of Lenoir. One of the best scenes of the fi'm is written a- bmit Crosby's singing of the old favorite “Swanee" with the as sistance of a forty voice negro chorus. The other songs done by Crosby are four new tunes, In- clnding “Soon” and “Down by the river.” “Mississippi’’ wll! be seen at the Liberty Theatre, Monday and Tuesday. ’The first March of Time issue comes on the same program with much promise of real entertainment for the film goers. The management of the Lib erty Theatre, feels with pride, that it has been fortunate in se curing the rights to exhibit "The March of Time” reels.
