C., Jan. 27.—The .'twenty-eight production credit as- aoelntiona serTlng North Carolina, alter charging otf all losses and H^t^ataklng liberal provisions for any poAlble losses on last year's ope- rations, had a net profit of |86,- 049.01 for the year, according to figures released by Elrnest Gra ham. president of the Production Credit Corporation of Columbia, which supervises the operations of the associations. The North Carolina associ ations, Mr. Graham said, made loans last year to 17,000 farmers for a total of $4,690,906. These farmer-members paid only 5 per cent interest rate, Mr. Graham said, and only paid interest for time they actually had use of _e money. ^The fact that after two years’ f-atlons the capital stock of fry association is unimpaired the associations have begun bttiiding a surplus to take care of lean years speaks eloquently for the success of these farmer- owned. farmer-operated coopera tive credit organizations.’’ said Mr. Graham. “anJ best proof of the fact that the service which they are rendering is appreciated by the farmer is attested by the splendid growth in membership in 1935.” There are twenty-eight pro duction credit a.ssociations in ^ North Carolina and service is • '''provided for every county. Dead King Honored By Grut Men of Ennipo London, Jan. 27.—The heads of seven European powers, come to bury a kmg, sat in solemn state with King Edward VIII of Britain in Buckingham palace tonight, about a table set with gold plate estimated to be worth 2,000,000 pounds. In the taper-lit gloom of (West minster hall, the body of Sing George V lay for the last night be fore Tuesday’s state funeral while a grrieving,. seemingly never-endr ing queue filed past his catafalque. By 9 p. m. a total of 709318 persons had passed the catafalque since the lying-in-state began last Friday. The queue still stretched far from Westminster hall while in Whitehall, other persons had been taking up positions for the fu neral procession. The regal dinner, required by diplomatic procedure, was followed by an equally formal palace recep tion at which the new 41-year-old king greeted the crown princes of two more nations, the vice chancel lor of a third and the ambassadors of 28 other states. These latter included Norman H. Davis, President Tloosevelt’s am bassador at large, who will par ticipate fully in the last rites here and at Windsor. yon grant Adther *pb- to Ufen^tiia^Bf*' ^offmao ••No,’-’ he «il4i ; •* i '> r l^tj^n, MdA'he.hatf no Inten- ^ juiiii ‘l^^immtlg a of- the‘'doufi /“ bf ironld ’ask ibglWaUve action ^e findings warrant it;” ra pointed out, howerer,. that any new evidhnee-f fitst would be brought" before Supreme Court Jdstice Tbbniaa Wi.
