Mo- Diarmid, Branch Manager of the Carolina Motor Club’s local blranch office advised motorists. to check carefully the used auto mobiles they buy, .particularly older models. “The safe way to buy a used i he continued, “is through ] an established dealer. Inability to Idle in high gear under 10 miles an hour indicates uneven compression in engine or need of tune-up. Puff of smoke from exhaust when accelerating after long idle Indicates worn piston rings, ^pis tons and cylinders. Tires regrooved into the cords indicate danger and expense a- bead.
