Cowles made a report of the State Federation meeting, which she recently at’ended in Ashe ville. Mrs. E. N. Phillips, the president, was in charge of the business session, at which time plans were disciisi-ed for the flower show to be held in tlie community House during the sec-j ond week in June. W. A. held at the home of Vernon Stroud Friday evening. A busine.ss meeting was held at the beginning of the meeting, electing officers for the following year. The program, the theme of which was "Unblemished Trade mark.” was given by Miss Nora Laws, Mrs. Vernon Stroud. Miss Margaret and Miss Sue Anderson. Mjss Ruth Ellis. Miss Joyce Hayes, Miss Maida Tedder, and Mis.s Audie Andeiv^on. The May meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. .Archie .A.n- derson. The hostess served refresh ments during the social hour. Mrs. Claude Doughton, the re gent, presided for the business session during which time throe new officers were elected for a period of three years. .Miss Ruby Blackburn was chosen as regent, Mrs. Ward Eshelman, vice-re gent; and Mrs. C. D. Coffey. Sr.. Jr., as treasurer. Mrs. W. C. Grier gave a fine report of the State Convention, which was held in Asheville recently and stated that this district won the atten dance prize. Mies Lucy Finley repored that the chapter had helped to serve refreshments twice to the draftees on their de parture since the last meeting, o'her organizations cooperating were the Kiwanis and Legion Anxiliaiy. The home was attractively decorated' with pink and white flowers, while a pretty arrangement of lilies of the valley centered the dining table. Treasury.
