Henderson Electric Company Closing Out Mr. and Mrs. John Andrews have moved into their attractive new home near Boomer on the Lenoir highway. Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Critcher, Jr., of Asheville, spent a few days this week with relatives at 'Moravian Falls. A message received by Mr. Gordon Brewer, resident of Pores Knob, from his son, Walter S. Brewer, stated that the latter had been promoted to sergeant. Second Lieutenant Robert Wood Finiey, of Fort Bennlng, jOa., spent Sunday here with parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. G ley. Mr. and Mrs. Avery Whitting- Ion, of Elkin, were visitors to this city Monday. Mr. Whitting ton and family formerly resided the Pairplains community. his Fin- Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Phillips re turned to their home in Baltimore today after spending several days in the county with relatives and friends. A daughter, Suzanne, w^s born Saturday at the Wilkes Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Somers. Mother and daughter are getting along fine. Henderson Electric company, located next door to Horton's Drug Store, Is closing out Its stock of electrical appliances. The firm has some new refrig erators, radios and other Items which have not been frozen by government order, and these will be sold as early as possible. Mother’s Day Service At First Baptist Church ’This Sunday Is -being recog nized throughout the country as "Mother’s Itey”, and special ser vices are held in many churches annually in honor of the sacrifi cial contributions which mothers make to the life and ideals of the world. "A Worthy Mother”’ will be the sermon subject of the pastor at the 11:00 a. m. worship ser vice in the first Baptist church this Sunday. At the 8:00 p. m. service the pastor will speak on "The Hands of Christ". A friendly invitation Is exten ded to the public to attend the services. Anderson have returned to the city from Fort Denning, Ga„ where they visited their daughter, Mrs. Roy Forehand, and First Lieutenant Roy Forehand. Mrs. Jim Henderson returned to Wilkesboro the first of the week after spending .several days at Fort Bragg, N. C„ with her husband who has a responsible position there as a baker in one of the government hospitals. Mr. and Mrs. H. G. Nichols and family have moved into the resi dence on D street formerly occu pied by Mr. and Mrs. J. E. John son, who have moved Into their new home in the northern port of the city. Misses Naomi and Evelyn Broyhill, of Appalachian State Teachers College, arrived home Thursday. They will spend their summer vacation with their par ents, Mr. and Mrs. I. J. Broyhill, at Boomer. Mr. Ed Dancy, who holds a position with a construction com pany buildin/? an airport near Nashville, Tennessee, spent Wed nesday and today at his home near this city.
