Church Home Sgt. Wayne Church, son of Mr. and Mrs. N. C. Church, is home for a 15-days furlough after which be will return to Camp Butner. V Shoe Beports Are Due October 10th Inventory Must Be Taken Of Rationed Shoe Stock On Hand On Sept. 30th Retailers, distributors, jobbers, and manufacturers of shoes must all take inventory of their.stock of shoes on hand as of the close of busii^ess September 30, ac cording to a ruling made by the Office of Price Administratioii. The forms for listing the inven tory will be mailed to the handlers of shoes by the Office of Price -•Vdmhnlstratlon Inventory Un’t in the ■near future, and the shoe dealer must fill out the form iii duplicate, and mail one copy to the Office of Price Administra tion Inventory Unit, Empire St-ate Building, New York, on or before October 10. Any shoe dealt-r tail ing to receive his inventory forms through the mail by September 27 should apply to his loc'il ra tioning l)oard for his copies of Form R-1701A. GORDON MA 9-27-4tM •’fv WILKES YOUTH KILLED BY A HIT-RUN DRIVER (Continued from page one) after he stepped from a city bus near his home around midnight Thursday night, but that his un conscious form was not discovered until early Friday morning. Hospital attendants said bis in juries included skull fracture and concussion, fractures of both legs and a severe chest injury. He was still unconscious shortly before he died. The''youth was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Burcham of State Road. His father is e departmen tal foreman at Chatham Manufac turing Company here. Authorities reported the acci dent occurred within a stone’s throw of the Burcham home .shortly after midnight, but that the family had retired. Kyle Thompson, o. resident of the com munity, discovered the uncon scious lad as he was driving out from his home Friday morning. Young Burcham reportedly was returning to his home after at tending a local threatre when the accident occurred. A wide search for the driver of the car was launched by police and Sheriff’s officerts but had yielded no trace of his Identity late yesterday.
