Friends will be glad to learn that she is recovering satis factorily. Mrs. elate Duncan, former lo cal resident now making her home at Burlington, underwent an operation for acute appendicitis Tuesday morning at Burlington General hospital. Her father, "Mr. Rufus Shepherd, went to Bur lington Tuesday to be with her. Mr. Conrad Vannoy had the misfortune of geting the first finger on his right hand badly crushed several days ago while at work at the Forester Ice Cream Company plant. It was necessary that the end of the finger be am putated just below the first joint. Some improvement is reported in the condition of Messrs. Gordon and Morgan Shatley, brothers, who have been very ill for the past few days and are patients at the Wilkes hospital. Mr. Gordon Shatley was seriously Injured when kicked by a mule several days ago.
