Grady Burglss was the offi ciating minister lor the ceremony, which was attended by a number of service men and women. The bride was lovely in a grape white, sequin trimmed dress with brown accessories and a corsage of red roses. The matron of hon or, Mrs. Forrest C. Cordon, was dressed in white. Lt. Coffey Is Bridge Club Hostess The members of the Friday Bridge club were entertained by Mrs. C. ®. Coffey, Jr., at her home on Ninth street Friday aft ernoon. Table prises were in the game, which were war stamps, were won by Mrs. Ward Bshelman and Mrs. Bussell Q. Hodges. Re freshments were served. Mrs. G. G. Bonner Entertains at Bridge A delightful party of the week was the one given by Mrs. G. G. Bonner at her home in Wllkes- boro Friday evening, entertaining at four tables of bridge. A salad course followed play. Mrs. Robt. Dunn scored high, Mrs. Russell Pearson low, and Mrs. W. T. Long won out In bingo, all three re ceiving attractive awards. Color ful spring flowers were used for decorations. U. D. C. Chapter In Monthly Meeting- The April ineetlng of the Wilkes Valley Guards chapter of the U. D. C was held on Wed nesday afternoon with Mrs. J. H Whicker, Sr., at her home on street. Mrs. W. C. Grier, president, was in charge of routine business, during C the the which time a minute man flag was do nated to the chapter by Mrs. J. R. Finley for members being 100 percent In buying war bonds. The program was given by Mrs. Ben Counclll, of Boone, a houseguest of Mrs. C. D. Coffey, Sr., who made a most interesting talk on Memorial Day. Refreshments were served during the social hour. Mrs. J. C. Reins Book Club Hostess Mrs. J. C. Reins was hostess to the members of the Friday Book club and some extra guests at her home on E street Friday afternoon. Miss Lizzie Hlsle, the president, presided for roll call which was made by Mrs. Joe E. Johnson, members responding with Interesting news Items. Mrs. A. C. Wagonner was the winner of the prize given in a radio con test. At the close of the after noon the hostess served tempting refreshments, guests being seated at the dltj^lng table and two small ones. Funeral servicee for Mrs, Zeb Deaton, 87, were oondneted at 4 o’clock Haturday afternoon at the Eternersvllle Main Street - Metho dist church, of which she wae a member. Buridl took place in the church graveyard. Mrs. Deaton died Friday. Mrs. Deaton had been in de clining health for some time and death was not unexpected. Surviving are one son, Rufus Deaton, of Brunswick, Ga.; live daughters, Misses Ruth, Madge and Sara Deaton, all of Moores- vllie, Mrs. L. M.' Long, of Detroit, Mich, and Miss Carol Smith, an adopted daughter; her mother, Mrs. John L. Webster, of Wllkes- boro; one sister, Mrs. H. S. Bow en, of Fairfield, Ala.; and four brothers, Attorney Felix” Webster, of Winston-Salem;Wiley Webster, of Wyco, W. Va.; S. C. Webster, of Kernersvllle; and P. O. Web ster, of WUkesboro. Mrs. Deaton was well known in the community, having made her home In WUkesboro for a number of 'years following her marriage to Mr. Deaton, who died several years ago.
