She wore a garland of roses on her bead, carried a prayer book, and her only ornament was an heirloom brooch. Immediately following the ceremony an Informal reception was held, after which the couple left for a wedding trip to New Orleans, La. Mrs. Bollin received her edu cation at Woman’s Co^ege in Greensboro, studied art in^ Char lotte, and for one season under Miss Mae Middleton, noted Eng-, lish artist, in Bermuda. She is a member of the North Carolina Poetry Society, and has had her poetry published by the Poetry Digest, of New York. Mrs. Bol lin, who holds a position with the Duke Power Co., in Char lotte, is a granddaughter of Mrs. O. F. Blevins, of Wilkesboro, and the late Mr. Blevins. The bridegroom, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Bollin, of I.o Mars, Iowa, is the grandson of George Day. pioneer Iowa fa' i- er. He served in the European Theatre of Operations and Is now on leave. In the battle of Sicily! he was taken prisoner by the Germans and was held for 21 months. He wears the Purple Heart Medal. Before his induc tion Into the army the bride groom was In business in l.e Mars, and also a professional sportsman, being a member of the Middlewest Ice Hockey League. Pearl White Circle Has Christmas Party The members of the Pearl White Circle of the Wilkesboro Methodist church held their an nual Christmas party Tuesday evening at the home of Mrs. Joe Barber, with Mrs. J. W. White as associate hostess. Mrs. A. R. Gray, Sr., presided for the busi ness session. During the social hour the hostess served a salad course, and the group made an exchange of gifts, which were at tractively arranged on a table. Held Legion Auxiliary In Monthly Meeting The Legion Auxiliary held its monthly meeting Monday evening at the home of Mrs. B. N. Phil lips, with Mrs. Joe E. Johnson and Mrs, John Hall as associate hostesses. Mrs. John W. Leyshon, the president, was in charge of the business session, during which time a number of Items came up for discussion. Plans were made for Christmas for the war veterans, who are patients at the hospitals at Oteen and Fay etteville. An exacativa meeting of the Woman’s Society of Christian Service of the Ndrtk Wllkiiboro First Methodist church waa held at the home of the president, Mrs. W. B. Jones, Monday eve ning. At the beginning of the meeting the group sang a num ber of Christmas carols and Mrs. Edd P. Gardner led the devo tions. Mrs. Jones presided for the business aesslon, during which time a number of reports were heard and some plans made for the work of the coming year. Sixteen were present and at the close of the evening the hostess served tempting refresh ments. Mrs. Gardner presented to Mrs. Jones a gift from the so ciety, a W. S. C. S. pin. In ap preciation of the splendid work done by Mrs. Jones the past two years as president of the society. Mrs. R. J. Hlnshaw is the in coming president. McNeill-Hudson Vows Are Spoken Mr. and Mrs. C. F. McNeill, of Purlear, announce 'the marriage of their daughter, Virginia, to William Ross Hudson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Hudson, of North Wilkesboro. 'The marriage was performed Wednesday, November 7, at the First Baptist church, with Dr. David B. Browning officiating. The bride wore a two-piece dress of light blue with black ac cessories. She Is a graduate of Millers Creek high school and now holds a position with Belk’s Department Store, The bridegroom is employed by the telephone company In North Wilkesboro, where the couple will make their home. The meeting opened with the hymn o,* the year fol lowed with the watchword. Mrs. A. T. Jones, the president, had charge of the business session, when officers were elected for the year 1946. The Lottie Moon offering was taken. Mrs. J. M. Cantor discussed “The Mission ary and the Task.’’ Two chapters from the book, "Victory Unto Victory,’’ followed with Blole study. Miss Nora Laws. The topic for discussion, "Fac ing Tomorrow With God," was given by Mrs. Walter Stroud, Mrs. Rex Stroud and Miss Nora Laws. Christmas carols were sung by the group.
