IN MEMORY OF TALLIE
ANDERSON
It's just* a year the twehty-eighth
of May ,
Since our dear brother was tak
en away
It makes us so sad for he was
the only brother we had;
Just Apy, Jay, and me, we loved
him with all our hearts
And we now can sympathize with
others who *
With their loved ones have had
to part.
He left a wife and three little
girls, a dear mother and dad
Their hearts are aching yet for
him, so many friends are sad
We know not the reason for this
loss
We can only bring our burdeps to
the Cross. 1
He had a wreck as you may know,
but did not think he was
hurt
He tried to be brave and go on;
for several days he suffered
alone
And then it seemed that he knew
he had to go,
For before he left he would sit
and cry
And, boys, he told his wife he
wanted her to be saved
And to rear their children right.
I hope all the boys that read this,
and a friend in Tallie had,
Will give up- the things that will
shorten your days
And will someday make you sad.
So boys, please, all take warn
ing, and give your heart to
Jesus,
the only one who eaves, the one
who never, never leaves us.
Again we wish to thank our
friends and neighbors,
For their sympathy, kindness,
cards and flowers,
And we pray God's blessings up
on you in all your toiling
hours."

permits to operate their machines
in North Carolina. The permits
are to be obtained through the
Register of Deeds Office in each
county of the State. There is
rarely any charge for these per
mits, although handy daily rec
ord books are provided along
with forms on which to report
the acreage threshed and bushels
obtained from this acreage.'
Farmers and businessmen need
information resulting from these
records to makp their plans for
better and safer farming. Also,
county agricultural leaders need
county totals and averages for
their general program planning.
The State Threshers' Law is the
means for getting such informa
tion on small grains.
The purpose of this law Is for
information and not for revenue.
It Beeks cooperative aid and in
terest and not compulsion or re
sentment. Reliable plans must be
developed from information orig
inating at the farm; thus, the
threshers' records provide the
best basis for county grain sta
tistics for program planning us
age. The source and usage is
within the county Itself. Opera
tors must obtain from the Reg
ister of Deeds: (1) Permit or
license card; (2) Daily record
book; and (3) Report blanks
upon which to report their entire
operations for the season. Pri
vate and public machines, alike,
are no exception or exemption,
even for those outside the State
if they operate inside North Car
olina.

DO YOUR FAMILY'S VITAMINS
VANISH INTO THIN AIR?
A check-up by our state health authorities
reveals a serious Vitamin C deficiency in the
diet of both children and grown-ups in our
area.
This vitamin is essential to vigorous health,
yet it's often lost through wilting or over
cooking. Our Home Service Specialists give
you these suggestions to help you retain
valuable Vitamin C:
Be sure your leafy vegetables are
stored promptly. (Vitamin
vanishes in proportion as vegeta
bles are allowed to wilt).
Keep the outside leaves (the more
color the more vitamins!)
Cook closely covered, in as little
water as possible.
Stir as seldom as possible.
