Extended Courtesies
Among the first of the pre
nuptial oourteales given for Mies

tember, vu the informal tea giv
en by Mrs. Dwlght Miller and
Miss Harriett Crutchfleld at the
borne of Mrs. Miller's mother,
Mrs. George Forester, on E
Street Wednesday afternoon. The
honoree, who is to be married
to Robert Riggs Smoak, of Wil
kesboro, was presented with a
corsage of white roses and china
in her chosen pattern. Two
groups of friends called between
the hours of four to five and
were served a tea course in the
dining roOm by the hostesses,
who were assisted by Mrs. For
ested and Miss Pat McNiel. Quan
tities of mixed garden flowers
made a festive setting for the oc
casion.
Another delightful courtesy
for Miss Reins wag the bridge
party given by Miss Elizabeth

honors with Miss Reins were Mrs.
James Lowe, the former Mies

gifts. Bridge was played at five
tables arranged amid attractive
decorations of mixed summer
flowers. Prizes in the game were
awarded to Miss Norma Smoak
for high score and to Miss Mary
Elmore Finley for low score. At
the beginning of play Miss Mc
Neil was assisted by her mother,
Mrs. M. B. McNeil, and Miss
Mary Louise Newton in serving
a dessert course.
Preceding the tea Wednesday
afternoon Mrs. C. D. Coffey, Sr.,
had Miss Reins and a few of the
neighbors in for an informal
hour. The group on arrival were
invited into the dining room for
refreshments, where effective
bridal decorations were used and
a corsage marked the honoree's
place. During the hour Mrs. Cof
