Francis M. Darcy, commander of the Lenoir substation of the Army Recruit ing Sewlce located at the Post Office Building. This new enlist ment directive became effective on August 1, 1947. Enlistments for the European duty (including the Mediterre&n Theatre) will be in the Reg ular Army unasslgned for initial assignment to the European Command unasslgned, and will be for periods of three, four, or five years. Men enlisting under this di rective who have been discharg ed more than 20 days will be ordered to the Fifth Infantry Di vision at Fort Jackson, where they will ibe reported as imme diately available for shipment to the European Command. Men en | listing under this directive who I have been discharged less than | 30 days will be ordered direct to (Camp Kilmer, N. J., for immedi ate shipment to Europe.
