W. K. Sturdirant, committee chairman, presided, and others attending Included: Paul Chop lin, county agent; J. F. Wood ward, superintendent of North Wllkesboro schools; C. B. Eller, superintendent of Wilkes schools; Carl VanDeman, manager of the freeser locker plant; R. M. Brame, Jr., chamber president; J. B. Williams, chamber past president; Tom S. Jenrettf, cham ber secretary-manager; and Paul Billings. Data on selling apples to the U. S. Department of Agriculture for school lunches was discussed and it -was announced that any apple producers interested in sub mitting bids before February 25 may get-blanks and information from the chamber of commerce office, the freezer locker plant or from Lawrence Miller at the Triple A office. Apples will be -1— " _= purchased in car lota. The discussion of an apple marketing center was interesting and it was proposed that a center be established where fruit grow* ers may leave information as to what they have and buyers may also leave orders.
