Mr. George Bumgarner, son of

of the Millers Creek community
is a freshman at Pfeiffer College.

at a later date to make their

plane this week to his home at

where he visited his daughter,
Mrs. John D. Hines. Her husband
Col. Hines, is now stationed in

Mr. and Mrs. John Ford, of
Asheville, were here for Farm
ers' Day and part, of the fair
last week. They were residents
of Wilkesboro while Mr. Ford
was farm forester for three coun
ties. He was transferred to
Asheville and now has 19 coun
ties in his area.

and their son and his family, Mr.
and Mrs. Alvln Holler and two
children, Audrey and Shela all
of Hickory, visited here Sunday
in the/ home of Mr. and Mrs.
Rom H. Pearson. The former Mr.
Holler is a brother of Mrs. Pear

accompanied Mrs. Church home.
Mr. Thomas C. Shumate, who
has been manager of the pro
duce department of the Dixie
Home store, has accepted the po
sition as representative of the
Metropolitan Life Insurance Co.
in this area. He is now attending
a two-weeks' course in Atlanta
before beginning his new duties.

Monday from Richmond, Va.,
where they carried their daugh
ter, Miss Edith Marie Ferguson,
to enter Richmond Professional
Institute as an art student. They
also visited Mr. and Mrs. W. H.

near Richmond.

returning to Salisbury from
here after a three weeks' vaca
tion in southern states. Mr. Green
