Mrs. E. W. Baker, our Home
Poultry Leader, gave a discussion
on chickens from the brooder to the
laying house.
Alt this point in the program Mrs.
Pick Thompson and Mrs. Addie H.
Tones, recreational Leaders, stepped
on the scene of action and led the
group in some interesting contests
and games, with prizes going to
Mrs. J. M. Nichols and Mrs. Bob
Church.
Mrs. Ed Bumgarner, member of
our Club, gave a most helpful, dis
cussion, especially to parents of the
teen-age group, losing the subject,
"Our "Teen-Agers'" Every 'teen
ager goes through the misunder
stood period of adolesence, which
Mrs. Bumgarner defined as being
"both a child and an adult at the
same time, and as being too old in
their eyes to be treated like children
and too young in ours to do the
things they want to J'
Most everyone who has had ex
perience with children knows that
it is not an easy matter to be a good
parent, but "when our children are
most difficult and most unloveable
they are most in need of our under
standing, our love, and our guid
ance." We must therefore, let them
feel that we trust them and
have confidence ih them by giving
them freedom of doing things' on
their own. Suggest things they
should or should not do, but try to
develop in them a feeling of confi
dence and responsibility for their
own actions. "Happy is the child
whose mother remembers being a
child."
Mrs. Bumgarner pointed out that
it takes time to be a good parent.
"Anything that is worth while takes
time, so take time to live with your
'teen-agers instead of for them."
The meeting was dismissed with
prayer, led byMrs. J. P. CryseL
Delicious refreshments, sugges
tive of the Thanksgiving season
were served by the hostesses at the
conclusion of the program.
Our next meeting will be our
Christmas party at the home of
Mrs. E. R. Eller on Tuesday even
ing December 21, at 7:30.?Report
