In Monthly Meeting Circle No. 1 or the Wilkesborc Wesleyan Service Guild held lti monthly meeting Tuesday eve ning at the home of Mrs. Johnson Sanders with Mrs. Robert Gam blll and Mrs. Howard Pharr at associate hostesses. The program theme, "Advance Clipper" was presented by Mrs. Warner Miller, Jr., and Mrs. Thomas Crysel. Mrs. Miller was in charge of thf business session during which time a special offering was tak en for Mable Ruth Nolan, a mis sionary to Japan. The Wesleyan Service Guild of the Wilkesboro Methodist church meets Tuesday evening, 7:80 o'clock, at the home of Mrs. Russell Pearson with Mrs. Charles Garwood and Bliss Odessa Hanks as oo-hostesses. The Garden Club meets Tuesday afternoon, three o' clock, at the home of Mrs. W. P. Gaddy with . Mrs. Bruce Waugh and Mrs. Thurman Kenerly as associate hostesses. Mrs. Russell Pearson Entertains Her Club The members of the Wilabri bridge club were entertained Thursday evening by Mrs. Rus sell Pearson at her home in Wilkesboro. A salad course was served at the close of the game played at three tables. Prizes in* the bridge game went to Mrs. Ray Kennedy and Mrs. M. M. Brame, Jr., and in bingo Mrs. James Lowe was the winner. Mrs. B. L. Green and Mrs. Yale Miller were welcomed into the club as new members. Mrs. N. B. Smithey Society Hostess The * Woman's Society o f Christian Service of the Wilkes boro Methodist church met Tues day afternoon with Mrs. N. B. Smithey, having an attendance of fourteen members. Mrs. J. W. White offered the opening prayer, Mrs. B. S. Call gave the devotions, and Mrs. J. B. Henderson the program on "The World at Our Own Doorstep." Mrs. N. 0. Smoak presided for the business session. Jn serving refreshments during the social hour Mrs. Smithey was assisted by Mrs. A. R. Gray, Sr. Misses Zimmerman Hutchens Give Tea An interesting social event among the younger set during the holidays was the New Year's tea given by ;Miss Margaret Ann Hutchens and Miss Billy Jo Zimmerman at the home of Miss Hutchenf on E Street Saturday afternoon. The hostesses received around forty-five guests in three groups from 4:30 to six o'clock. In serving refreshments from the dining room table, decorated in green and white, the hostesses were aided by their mothers, Mrs. Hoyle Hutchens and Mrs. J. S. Zimmerman. The dining table spread with a white cloth, was centered with a white doll bear ing the date 1949, about which white candles gleamed. Mrs. Charles L. Winters, an honor guest, was given china in her pattern, Miss Mary Jo Fox, of Mebane, who was here visiting her aunt, Mrs. W. L. Hill Carlton was hostess to the members of the Episcopal Auxiliary in their monthly meet ing held Tuesday evening at her home on Sixth Street. Rev. B. M. Lackey, of iLenoir, gave the de votions, and niftg Alice Oassell the program. Mrs. B. R. Under wood, the president, presided for. routine business, and the usual reports. Ten members were pres ent and were served refreshments during the social hour. Mesdames, Miller, Crysef Gives Series Of Parties Mrs. W. W. Miller and her daughter, Mrs. Thomas Crysel, were hostesses at a series of par ties at the Miller home in Wil keaboro. On Tuesday evening they honored Mrs. Charles L. Winters, the former Miss Carolyn Moore, at five tables of rook. Prizes were awarded to Miss Frances Rous seau for top score, to Miss Ruth McNeil for low score, and Miss Jane Jones received the traveler's prize. The honoree was remem bered with a gift. On Friday afternoon rook was played at four tables with the high and low score awards going to Mrs. Stacey Alexander and Mrs. L. L. Godfrey. Mrs. Walter Irwin held the traveler's prize. Four tables were made up for play again on Saturday after noon with prizes for same scores going to Mrs. A. R. Gray, Jr., Mrs. Fred Emerson, and Mrs.' W. T. Long.
