The wedding of Miss Shirley
Taylor and William Franklin
| Horton was solemnised on Wed
i nesday evening, December 22, at
17:80 o'clock in the First Meth
odist church, of Hollywood, Cali
fornia. The bride's parents are
Mr. and Mrs. Ray Taylor, of Los
Angeles. The bridegroom is a
son of Mr. and Mrs. A.*W. Hor
ton, of Carpinterla, and grandson

of Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Franklin,
descendnats of Oajrpinteria Val
ley Pioneers. The groom's patern
al grandparents were the late Dr.
and Mrs. W. P. Horton, of North
Wilkesboro, N. C. where he for
merly lived with his parents.
Following the singing of ,Ma
lotte's, "Lord's Prayer,"the brid
al party entered Bett's chapel to
traditional wedding music. The
altar was banked with white
chrysanthemums and gladioli and
lighted with burning tapers.

honor. Other bridal attendants
were Miss Marilyn Raymond and
Miss Janet Kolley, Alpha Oamma
Delta sorority sisters, and Miss
Pat Thornburgh, of Bakersville,
cousin of the bride. They wore
identical white moire taffeta
gowns and carried American
Beauty roses.
For her wedding the ibrlde
wore white satin. The gown, fash
ioned with a headed pearl neck
line and long sleeves, had a full
skirt and train attached to the
fitted bodice with a corded, scal
loped yoke. Her fingertip veil
fell from a pearl coronet, and
her only ornament was a double
strand of pearls, gift of the brlde
, groom. Her bouquet was of
three white orchldB, surrounded
by carnations.
Dr. Lowell Miller was best
man for the groom, and the
ushers were Wayne Taylor, broth
er of the bride, Phillip Robbins,
of Durham, N. C. cousin of the
bridegroom, and Joe Hook, of
Los Angeles.
Mrs. Taylor, mother of the
bride, chose an aqua dress with
matching accessories. Mrs. Hor
ton, mother of the groom, wore
rose grey with matching acces
sories and a pink hat. Both had
orchid corsages.
Immediately following the
ceremony a reception was held in
the church parlors,' with sorority
sisters of the bride as hostesses,
after which the bridal couple left
on a brief wedding trip to Coro
nado. For travel the bride chang
ed to a green wool suit with black
accessories, and pinned at her
shoulder the orchids from her
bridal bouquet.
The young couple are now at
home in Pittsburgh, Pa., where
Mr. Horton is with the engineer
ing department of Westinghouse
Electric Corporation. He holds
his Masters Degree in electrical
engineering from the California
Institute of Technology, and was
in military service three years,
spending some time as engineer
ing officer on a tanker in the
Pacific.
