Sherrill Blankenship, age 87, a prominent, well knqwn re tired farmer, and one of the old est citizens of Alexander county, died noon Thursday, January 13, In Hickory Memorial Hospital at Hickory. He had been In falling health for several months but was critically ill only a few days prior to his death. Mr. Blankenship was born Au gust 13, 1861, the son of the late James A. Blankenship and the late Annie Sherrill Blanken ship. He lived his entire life in Alexander county except a few years spent In the Western States in his early life. He is survived by his wife, the former Miss Ada B. Johnson, two daughters: Miss EJsple Blanken ship of the home, and Miss Melo Blankenship, manager of West e r n Union Telegraph office, North Wilkesboro; two brothers: A. J. Blankenship, Statesville, and M. M. Blankenship of Alex ander county. Funeral services were held 2) o'clock Saturday afternoon atj Sulphur Springs Baptist church' where he had been - a memberj since early life. The election of officers was in order, and all the present officers were re-elected. New officers elected were: Revs. W. Thomas Martin, Jr., vice president, and publicity chairman; Rev. T. B. Speas, chaplain; and Rev. Turner, As sistant secretary. The president, Rev. T. M.
