Calloway, 84, Is Taken By Death Funeral service was held to day at Pleasant Grove Baptist church for James Alverian Cal loway, 84, for many decades a well known citizen of New Castle township. iHe died -Wednesday at his home, death being attributed to a heart attack. Surviving Mr. Calloway are two daughters, Mrs. R. M. Ed wards, of Greensboro, and Mrs. George H. Kallam, Sr., of Char lotte; also one brother and one jrfster, Sam Calloway, of Cycle, and Mrs. J. O. Greene, of Ronda. Funeral service was conduct ed by Dr. L. P. McClenny and Rev. R. R'. Crater. Pall bearers were Tom * Calloway, Harry Greene, Robert Calloway, Harvey Pardue, Colean Pardue and Coy Calloway. Wilkes Vulcanizing Co. In New Location Wilkes Vulcanising company has moved end is now doing bus iness in its new location, the former McNeill garage building Just outside of North Wllkesboro on highway 18 toward Falrplains. J. H. Crawford is now owner of Wilkes Vnlcanising company, which was located in the base ment of Forester Furniture com pany on the corner of B and Tenth streets. The firm specializ es in recapping, vulcanizing and sale of Gilette tires. In the new location, which has plenty of spa£&, Gulf gasoline and oils and auto accessories will be sold. Boomer Advent Church To Celebrate 54th Anniversary The Boomer Advent Christian church will celebrate its fifty fourth anniversary next Sunday, January 30, beginning at noon and lasting throughout the after noon. There will be • preaching service at two o'clock conducted by Rev. R. L. Isbel and Rev. W. 7. Presler, of Lenoir and Hick ory. All are aaked to bring well filled baskets for a noon lunch eon. P. L. The all Stars led 34 to S3 at halftlme and the game, was very dose until the final period when the Bluejackets pulled a way. Meroak was very accurate for the Bluejackets, scoring 24 points.
