took a thriller from Appalachian
high* school boys from Boone
Tue^ay night at Wilkesboro 22
to 21. It was one of the most
closely contested games of the
season on the Wilkesboro court
and was featured by fine defen
sive play by bdth teams.
At several points in the game
the score was tied and a field
goal in the final seconds of the
game decided the contest. The
half-time score was 12 to 11 in
favor of Wilkesboro.
Appalachian girls won an easy
victory 25 to 8. By half-time the
Boone lasses had accumulated a
lead of 11 to 5. Wilkesboro girls
have been hampered during the
past three games because of the
absence of Ruth Long, who has
been out because of an injury.

the way. Fisher and Reece led the

drive for Millers Creek.

Sparts —Sparta high cagers

here Tuesday night, the girls tak

ond game.
Mitchell and Walker topped
the attack for Sparta girls while
Reeves, with 28 points w^g the
big star in the free-scoring sec
ond game for Sparta.
